Bought an Octavia VRS 2.0 Tdi from a private seller a few weeks ago. It needed some minor work doing it, clutch and flywheel replaced. Recently I had used an engine carbon clean service as i noticed a very strong scented smoke coming out the exhaust so i thought i would give this a try.

My Octavia 2.0 VRS 170 is displaying the DPF fault light which will not clear. The engine fault light and workshop warning display are also on. My Diesel engine specialist says the Diesel Particulate Filter needs completely replacing (at £800 for replacing the part). Is this correct? My car is 4 years old and completed 112000 miles.
The sensor does need calibrating. Skoda assist fitted one to my late fathers greenline and less than 200 miles later the DPF light came on because the sensor believed the DPF to require regen when in reality the DPF was fine. Result was the car was almost constantly attempting a regen, but the ECU could see no changes in the values from the sensor.
lSNm. The DPF on the CR170 has a built-in catalyst that generates more heat quicker and for longer which helps avoid some of the issues seen on the older PD170's. For whatever reason your DPF has not been able to regen properly. As mentioned this is very likely down to a faulty sensor.
So does the 16valve 2.0 lt 140hp meets Euro 5 emissions without a DPF ,interesting looking at other sites regarding DPF problems with other manufacturers it would seem to be one of the few diesels without a DPF, glad I stuck with the vintage PD ,had a Fabia2 with the 1.9 PD TDI and it was great no DPF.
Vehicle has 84K miles. They said causes are stop and go driving or using dirty diesel. I drive on the highway at 80 mph+ daily for 20+ miles each way to work, and I only use the Ultra Low Sulfur diesel. Total cost $2500 - $2k for the part, $500 for labor.

DPF washing is not possible because it costs the same here in Finland as it would take a car to a professional workshop for DPF removal. The DPF related sensors have been checked with VCDS and their values are ok.
