The original BMW E30 M3 was known for dominating the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM). Redux seeks to step things up with a tuned naturally aspirated 2.5-liter (increased from 2.3 liters) S14 inline-4 engine. However, at least one customer had his fitted with a turbo. Via BMW Blog.
The engineers lifted the M3 E36 to a new level, especially on the engine side. As well as this facelift, the S50B30 was also further developed. Thanks to the S50B32’s now 3.2-litre displacement and 321 hp, the BMW M3 was able to sprint to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, about half a second faster than before.

The race is between M3 E30 2,3 88-89 model with sport evo front and rear spoiler, roll cage , exhaust, suspension, 235/40/17 tires and hood with 240ps VS S2000 with roll cage, exhaust, suspension, brakes and hood with 260ps. The M3 is faster and better handling than S2000. The truck isn't Tsukuba.
The subtle fared fenders of the E30 M3 are one of my favourites of all 3 series M’s. Hochheim wheels, rotors and brake calipers are nicely appointed. One thing you will notice are the hood pins across the front. One would assume the hood is removable, but this is not the case it is actually hinged into place – see photos below.
And that it did. The M3 made 197 hp in European spec (15 more than the Benz' Cosworth headed four-cylinder) from its own 2.3-liter S14 engine, which also sported four cylinders. Its bulging fenders and sky-high rear wing also caught more attention than the sober-looking 190E. In the end, the E30 M3 won out over its DTM racing career with 48 wins.
